December 2009 Newsletter

Bags of Hope is not in need of used clothing items~ at this time.
Attached is a flyer with our current needs if anyone would like to donate or forward it onto your circles of influence.
We so appreciate all your donations and efforts to make a difference in your local community.

We had a very successful event on December 5th at the Apopka Family Learning Center. Bags of Hope brought clothing and shoes for Men, Women and Children. 65 Migrant Families attended this event with a total of over 300 attendees! All received clothing and shoes and the children received a surprise toy from "TOYLAND" we set up with donated slightly used and new toys. What a great day and the smiles of happiness from the parents and children just filled our hearts! A special thank you again to all the 30+ volunteers who attended, as well as those who donated items for this event and those who prayed for our outreach.

The Lake Mary Marionette's Dance Team made and donated 40 Flannel Blankets to be distributed. The blankets are functional and warm…yet in cheery patterns to lighten the heart and ignite that much needed HOPE in the recipients. A HUGE thank you to each of these amazing girls and their parents for their support!

We are headed out this Friday, December 18th for our Christmas Distribution of Bags of Hope to Orange and Seminole Counties.

Nation's Law Firm DONATED the #100 Bags of Hope which are going out this Friday (assembling each bag themselves) along with a $25 Walmart Gift Card (for Christmas) in each bag! Absolutely AMAZING! Not only did Nation's Law Firm adopt us as their charity this Christmas, but they also invited us to present our outreach at their Christmas Gathering where hundreds of attendees were able to hear about Bags of Hope and the needs of the homeless in their community. Nation's Law Firm is passionate about assisting the homeless and they are supporting us in our efforts- we are very grateful! This kind of support will allow us to reach more and more homeless in our local community. Together we can make a difference right here at home.

We are also still working on Christmas Stockings and presents for some needy children. We completed 40 stockings for Harbor House (shelter for Women and Children who are victims of domestic violence) and we are now working on a group of 39 Children (from a Transitional Housing Facility- HOPA) who without our support will not be able to celebrate Christmas this year. If you are still looking for a way to make a difference this Christmas~ you can do so with a $25 Walmart Gift card for one of these children.

Send your Gift card(s) to:

Because of all your support Bags of Hope has been able to do miraculous things for the homeless and impoverished of Central Florida!
Thank you to each and everyone of you who have supported us in anyway you could- be it donations, service or prayers- all of which are vital to our success!
We are looking forward to 2010 and all the HOPE we will be so blessed to extend to our brothers and sisters living in the woods of our community.

Peace and Hope to all of you during this Christmas Season and in the year to come.
